From HC Fred Hoiberg to Rookie PG Denzel Valentine we dive into how each player performed the first half of the season. In this article we will take a look at the players on court performance, so off court issues like ones Rajon Rondo have do not factor into these grades. The grades we be evaluated by baseline statistics such as GP, PPG, RPG, APG.  SPG, and TPG. To qualify for grading the players must have played at least 15 games so far this season.

HC Fred Hoiberg: His team has been up and down all year long, and he cannot seem to get the right combination on the court to get consistent performances out of his team. As a less than vocal coach fans sometimes view him as too passive in close games. One positive coming from the first half is when he finally benched Rajon Rondo for off court issues in the hopes it did not bleed over into his performance on the court. At (20-21) the first half of this season is going as expected. His team is averaging 101.3 PPG, which is 23rd in the league, 21.0 APG, good for 23rd as well. On the positive side the Bulls are averaging 47.7 RPG which ranks 1st in the league, and are only giving up 101.4 PPG which ranks 6th through the first half of the season. There is obvious room for improvement and only time will tell if Hoiberg can make the adjustments to turn the team into a contender.

First Half Grade: C-

SF Jimmy Butler: Butler has appeared in 39 games this year. He has become the leader of this team, and his statistics reflect it. He is leading the team with 25.1 PPG, while adding in 6.7 RPG, 4.6 APG, 1.74 SPG, and 2.1 TPG. For a struggling Bulls team he has become the bright spot for the fans.

First Half Grade: A

SG Dwyane Wade: Wade has come home to Chicago, bad knees and all but has still appeared in 37 games. As a mentor to Jimmy Butler he has excelled in some games, and even turned back the clock for some vintage performances in the first half. His stats are typical of a Wade season, 18.9 PPG, 4.1 RPG, 3.8 APG, 1.43 SPG, and 2.2 TPG.

First Half Grade: A

PF Taj Gibson: The longest tenured Bull on the roster, he has played like he wants to win. Gibson has appeared in all 41 games thus far. At 11.9 PPG his is third on the team, and leads in rebounds with 7.3. He adds 1.2 APG, 0.54 SPG, and 1.5 TPG.

First Half Grade: A-

C Robin Lopez: Lopez has been solid along Gibson, playing all 41 games. He adds 9.0 PPG, 7.1 RPG, 0.8 APG, 0.17 SPG, and 1.0 TPG.

First Half Grade: A-

PF Cristiano Felicio: Off the bench Felicio has showed potential. In 33 games he has put up, 4.4 PPG, 5.0 RPG, 0.6 APG, 0.3 SPG and 0.4 TPG.

First Half Grade: B

PF Bobby Portis: In his second year, Portis has appeared in 27. He is putting up 4.2 PPG, 3.3 RPG, 0.6 APG, 0.22 SPG, and 0.7 TPG. In terms of production to minutes, this is one for the better on the team.

First Half Grade: B

PG Rajon Rondo: On the court Rondo has appeared in 32 game. He averages 7.3 PPG, 6.3 RPG, leads the team with 7.0 APG, 1.34 SPG, and leads in turnovers with an average of 2.7 per game. People may not like him butt he has done a decent job.

First Half Grade: B-

SF Doug McDermott: McDermott has played in 28 games this year, putting up 9.7 PPG, 3.2 RPG, 1.1 APG, 0.32 SPG, and 0.7 TPG. The second half should be a time where McDermott works on becoming an impact player to finish his third year in the league.

First Half Grade: B-

PF Nikola Miroic: The Euro sensation has been a letdown this season. In 36 games he is only putting up 9.5 PPG, 5.5 RPG, 0.8 APG, 0.75 SPG and 1.2 TPG. Like McDermott, he has to find a way to become a consistent impact player down the stretch.

First Half Grade: C+

PG Jerian Grant: 32 games played this season, mostly coming off the bench. Grant is averaging 5.1 PPG, 1.5 RPG, 1.6 APG, 0.88 SPG, and 0.6 TPG. In the second half, I would like to see if Grant can score more with the second unit.

First Half Grade: C

PG Isaiah Canaan: In his 28 appearances this season Canaan is averaging 5.7 PPG, 1.6 RPG, 1.1 APG, 0.68 SPG, and 0.7 TPG. As a depth bench player he is doing what he can for the team.

First Half Grade: C

SG Denzel Valentine: The Rookies has battled injuries but was able to appear in 25 games throughout the first half of the season. In those games he is putting up 3.3 PPG, 1.5 RPG, 0.6 APG, 0.36 SPG, and 0.5 TPG. In his limited time there have been a lot of good signs.
